Abstract
Osteuropa documents a speech by the Russian president on October 27, 2022. On this occasion, Russia’s foreign policy spin doctors are meeting in the Valdai Club and the boss is setting the tone in which they are to speak in future. Here, Putin’s scribes give his speeches both an intellectual and a folksy veneer. Even in 2022, the tenor was the usual one: The West is striving for world domination and desires nothing more than the humiliation of Russia. But its people are, Putin claims, fighting for justice.
