A Way Out of Poland’s Development Trap
Market Economy with a “Visible Hand” or Capitalism of a “Strong State”
Deutsche Fassung
Abstract
Poland's economy has grown dynamically over the course of two decades. However, it has not succeeded in closing the gap with Western Europe’s economies. Therefore, the idea is taking hold in Poland that the country is caught in a “middle income trap”. The government of the Law and Justice party, which has been in power since October 2015, would like to escape this by means of a more just economic model in which the state plays a greater role.
