Pan Lutosławski
Memories of My Teacher and Friend
Deutsche Fassung
Abstract
Cracow composer Krzysztof Meyer met Witold Lutosławski in 1965 after his debut at the festival Warsaw Autumn. His colleague, who was 30 years older, became his mentor; over the years, a friendship emerged from the teacher-student relationship. Lutosławski granted Meyer insight into his work and his political views, and both worked together on the programme committee of Warsaw Autumn. Meyer witnessed Lutosławski’s rigor and persuasiveness, his humor and enormous importance to Polish musical life.
