Rightwing Extremism in the Czech Republic

Abstract
The rightwing extremist scene in East Central Europe has reconstituted itself. The milieu today is more politicised than in the 1990s. Targeted actions against Roma, homosexuals, and non-conformists have taken the place of spontaneous violence. The milieu is transnationally networked. The ideological, organisational, and even aesthetic role model is German autonomous nationalism. The Czech militants are a hinge between the Germans and the Slovaks, but also the Polish scene. The Czech state has reacted by outlawing the rightwing extremist Workers Party. The effect, however, is limited.
